100 days!

Everyone’s heard of months devoted to cutting back on alcohol. Sober October. Dry January.

What I didn’t know on January 1, 2023 was that this time around, the impact of signing up was going to be life-changing.

Before, I’d survived those types of months with barely any temptation. I knew I could return to life as usual. That life wasn’t so bad.

But this time, I reopened the Reframe app that I’d downloaded almost eight months before. The promise of the app was to “use neuroscience to reframe your relationship with alcohol and unlock the healthiest, happiest you.” As someone who delves deep into science-related nerdiness, there was a definite pull. But the first few launches of the app in 2022 didn’t hook me.

2023 was different. First I discovered the Daily Tasks. Then the calls that created a sense of community that had been one of my personal and professional goals for several years. And then there were the challenges. For a hyper-competitive person like myself, those sucked me in.

I started with the Cutback track. This is a brilliant idea from the Reframe founders, designed to reach those of us who hadn’t “hit rock bottom,” and didn’t actually see serious impact from drinking, but still had their reasons why less would be better.

That lasted literally days. This time, I immediately became aware that Alcohol Free life was a smart idea. The lessons had convinced me. It didn’t hurt that the Precision Nutrition certification that I’m working on talked about the impact of everything we consume — including booze — on our health, all the way down to the cellular level.

Soon, more and more of my daily time was spent reinforcing my commitment to boost my health, whether by just saying no to ethanol, or learning about other paths to peak performance.

My mood boosted, out of the sometimes-dark or borderline-hopeless mindsets that had started to take over. There were signs of my Tigger-esque energy peeking through, and being excited again about heading to the gym, instead of viewing workouts as a necessary evil.

Fast forward to today — 100 days AF. Or, as some Reframers say, AF (alcohol-free) AF. (You can guess as to the second acronym.)

Some might say “Whatever.” But if you’re intrigued, check out the app for 30 days for free! And message me via the contact form below if you have questions about my experience with Reframe, or are interested in my upcoming courses and coaching that will help you make healthier choices across the board.
