When I woke up today, I was excited about being introduced to holotropic breathwork, but didn’t realize it was going to be such a transformative experience.
Stanislav Grof created this modality that utilizes controlled, rapid breathing alongside music to create healing. Today’s session was facilitated by Vic Oddo, who I met via the Conscious Business Accelerator.
Though somatic work is part of my ongoing practice, and I’ve done breathwork, I was not prepared for the level of release in today’s close-to-90-minute ceremony. The work brought up deeply-buried emotions that I had stuffed down after the death of my parents. But beyond that, I felt a new receptivity toward the rest of the world. Throughout my heart area, I felt a rush of warmth, as though it had been locked away and was newly freed.
Next, I plan to learn how to share this tool with customers. Given that many of my ideal clients are female athletes living through perimenopause and beyond, I am excited about the potential of breathwork as one of many nutrition, movement and mindset tools that I’ll use to help them return to their sporty selves.
