Jay Chase is one of my coaches, and he asks himself four questions every day, that drive his decisions and actions. That simplifies life, right? If your questions and values are aligned, it’s so much easier to move through the world and reach your goals.
What are your questions? You might not need four, but stretch yourself to define at least three.
When I first set out to create my questions, I realized that mine were mostly focused on my professional life. But everything is interconnected, so I didn’t want to separate my personal and professional goals.
To get you started, here are five questions I ask myself, to make sure that my core values of health, curiosity, challenge, adventure and peace are being addressed.
- Does this contribute to my goal of optimizing health for myself and others?
- How does this satisfy my curiosity? Am I learning new things? Meeting new people?
- Am I challenged? Boredom is one of the worst possible states for me, so pushing myself gets me out of that rut.
- Do I feel a sense of adventure? For me, that’s not just satisfied by a snowboarding trip in the Southern Hemisphere, but also by contributing to professional teams that are operating with a startup mentality.
- Is peace present in my life? I have struggles, like everyone else, whether it’s noisy neighbors or income fluctuations, but have I found ways to cope via mindset and habits?
If you don’t know your values, this assessment will help you discover what they are!
Also, speaking of coaches, everyone needs one. If you have questions about how to find one, message me on Instagram and if I have knowledge of someone who can help, I will share a name or two!
